Impressive! How long did the battle last?
For Omega, maybe an hour. You have to beat that in one sitting. But Yiazmat lets you leave and come back at your leisure so you can save. So that one takes about 4 or 5 hours. BUT U BETTA BRING YO A-GAME.
You had way more patience to put into FFXII than I did. I beat the game and never made it all the way through my second play-through.
Yeah, at some point it became a matter of principle. ;)
But I probably wouldn’t have bothered if that battle system wasn’t so dang fun. Easily my favorite of any RPG, but the story and characters fall a bit short of VI and VII.
I was really digging the story for a while, and Balthier was beyond awesome, but FFXII really struck me as incomplete in a lot of ways. The endgame scenario feels really rushed to me; if I remember right, you never even meet the villain until right before you kill him. For the last fourth or so of the game I just kept expecting the story to really take off and it just never did.
Well, in fairness, the last boss was a just the main baddie Vayne being possessed by some demon/angel that was previously seen floating in the background here and there. Not as bad as FFIX if memory serves–that thing after Kuja really did come out of nowhere.
By the way, I’m secretly hoping this is “Czar Ben” from the old-school FFO forums…
